Today is “Shunbun-no-hi (Vernal Equinox Holiday)” and it is national holiday in Japan.
It is often said that this day has equal length of day time and night time, but actually the day time is little longer than night time.
3 days before Shunbun-no-hi and 3 days after Shunbun-no-hi is called “Ohigan”.
Ohigan customs is to visit graves, hold a mass for those who has died in family and offer race cake dumplings called Bota-mochi .
Bota-mochi is a ball made of rice covered with sweet red beans paste.
